Tasting Notes
Milk chocolate - This coffee has a very unique complexity with a lot of smoothness. Milk chocolate is a smooth, sweet, slightly bitter note that we felt encapsulates this idea well.
Jam - Jam has sweet, thick, and slightly tart properties. We chose this note because this coffee has a touch of just about everything.
Tonic - In the same way tonic has a bitter-forward nuance, we pick that up in this coffee’s cup as well. Overall, this coffee is a dynamic source of a lot of notes that can be played with depending on the brew method.
Rio Jorco Coffee Production
The Rio Jorco Wet Mill has a true "rise of the phoenix" story. With a long history of producing some of the most consistent, representative, and accessible coffee from Tarrazú, Costa Rica, the farm and mill built a strong reputation and set a high standard for local coffee production. However, after years of success, poor financial decisions led to significant trouble, and the project reached a point where it had to be sold. Recently, Carlos Castro, a kind-hearted farmer and philanthropist, purchased the mill with the goal of supporting the surrounding community. Since Carlos and his family took over, Rio Jorco has flourished, not just in business, but more importantly in the health of its plantations and the well-being of its mill operations. Alongside Carlos’ daughter, her husband Yendry, and their trusted colleague Gerardo, they’ve not only revived Rio Jorco but have elevated it beyond its previous reputation.
