Tasting Notes

Coffee beans from the Loma La Gloria farm have become a staple here at Sagebrush. This new crop boasts a delightful fruity flavor profile with hints of stone fruit, particularly the sweet and tangy taste of plums. As you savor the coffee, you'll notice a perfect balance of richness and creaminess, much like a chocolate-covered almond, due to the unique yellow honey process. If you're looking for a smooth and intricate coffee, ideal for a variety of brewing methods, look no further than this exceptional bean.

Loma La Gloria Coffee Production

Finca Loma La Gloria (“Hill of the Glory”) was started by Anny Ruth’s father, Roberto, in the late 1990’s.  In 2001, Roberto built a dry mill whose operations were soon abandoned after it was built.  During this time, Roberto still grew coffee but would sell it to other mills or on the local market.

In 2012, Anny took over operations with a clear vision of excellence and traceability and aimed to improve the quality of Loma La Gloria by controlling every step in the growing process.  She set out to clearly demarcate every part of the farm by microlots and varietals, restarted operations at the dry mill, and began experimenting with various processing methods.  The amount of effort this took cannot be properly put into words and also included training everyone involved in the farm from the pickers, to the patio workers, to her managers how to focus on quality processes in every step from planting to harvesting.
Today, the farm’s coffee has earned an international reputation for quality in the US, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Loma La Gloria is known for its carefully processed Honey and Natural coffees sorted by varietal. Loma La Gloria is located in the El Boquerón crater of the San Salvador Volcano. The farm’s elevation ranges from 1200 to 1750 meters above sea level. Shade trees cover much of Loma La Gloria and are home to many species of birds, including Blue jays, Chiltotas, Torditos, Guacalchias, and Hummingbirds. The shade canopy helps control temperatures on the farm, maintaining the optimal climate to produce a desirable cup profile.
