Tasting Notes
Chocolate - when we think of Kenyan coffees, we do not typically start with these notes. However, this coffee stood out to have a a smooth milk chocolate note to showcase the sweetness from another angle.
Brown sugar - a peaberry coffee will always showcase a developed sugar sweetness and this one is no slouch. We used brown sugar to highlight the richness in the cup that paired well with the sweetness.
Apple - malic acidity is most easily described as acidity like apples not citrus. This coffee has a sweet and pure malic acidity.
Gicherori Factory Coffee Production
Gicherori factory was opened in 1997 and is operated by the Kibugu Farmers Cooperative Society (F.C.S.). There are around 1,050 smallholder farmer members, who deliver their cherry to the factory the same day it's harvested.
The factory and its member farmers receive assistance and training from Coffee Management Services (CMS), which offers farmer education, "Good Agricultural Practices" seminars, and distributes a sustainable-farming handbook.
