Having cupped this coffee side-by-side with the other Guatemalan offerings we have on deck this year, it was very clear that the light body this bean boasted was unlike any of its peers. The ability to encapsulate that classic Guatemalan sweetness while providing a very nice and delicate mouthfeel made this coffee stand out as a unique and dynamic hit. With a constant sweetness that we pinpointed as a wafer or nougat-like note paired with just a subtle fruited acidity, this bean just tastes delicious; it’s simply an enjoyable coffee. Not to mention the tea-like mouthfeel makes it hard to believe it’s a washed process mix of carurra, catuai, and bourbon varieties. This is a delicious cup that you’ll just have to taste for yourself.
Bella Vista Coffee Production
Arcenio Castillo Villatoro, owner of Finca Bella Vista, grew up with his father in the village “La Cipresada” in La Libertad, Huehuetenango. Where he learned how to prepare good coffee with care and dedication.
This is how Arcenio had the dream of one day being the owner of a coffee farm, where he would soon obtain the results of his own efforts. In 2007, he made the decision to buy his own farm in Hoja Blanca village in Cuilco, Huehuetenango, permanently moving to this new place.
Mr. Castillo, his wife Rosa López and their three children affirm their decision to have dedicated themselves to coffee growing and feel that they still have many goals to achieve, since they have the climatic characteristics to continue producing coffees of national and international recognition.
